Virtualization penetration rate
The virtualization penetration rate shows the percentage of servers that are now virtual. It is calculated as a percentage of all servers, both physical and virtual, within enterprises.

Note:1. This means that of all the 578 enterprises surveyed in Q3, 38.9% of all servers are virtual compared to 39.4% of servers in 544 enterprises for Q2.
2. When interviewing different sets of qualifying organisations, we would interpret similar results as being identical, as is evident in this latest V-index survey. Given the random nature of the exercise, the very small differences confirm the similarity of the figures across the two waves rather than suggesting market variation.
